Well most of you know me or should lol. Some of you have even seen our youtube video's. My wife and I have been in the transportation industry since 1999, Alishia had her class A CDL in 1998 and drove solo as a tractor trailer driver for US Express and then as a Lease contractor for Prime Inc, Prime is where we first got our introduction into being Lease Contractors so when we chose to come here to Try Hours we had already been familiar with how being a Lease Contractor is different than a company driver. After driving over the road for a few years we came off the road and both of us drove local, I spent 12 years as a residential trash man ( where I got my class B CDL ). A couple of those years as a trashman I was a Route foreman and did route planning and training. When our youngest daughter graduated high school we decided we missed being over the road and didn't have anything to keep us home any more. We had looked into a couple different options, since I only had my class B CDL the obvious choice was expediting in a straight truck. I started our search on Expeditors online looking at ads for different owners and carriers. I called several before calling Try Hours, Phil was the only one to answer and not send me to voice mail lol. He put me in touch with Ken Lemely the then Fleet Manager for Davnic. He answered all the questions we had and in Jan of 2016 we made the leap into expediting. At that time not many people were doing videos so we had no prior knowledge of how things in expediting were different than OTR Tractor trailer. The one advantage was we were experienced in how being a lease contractor worked, and figured the rest would work itself out, cause really how hard could it be. Boy were we wrong, by February I was ready to call it quits. I wasn't prepared for freight being slow and what areas were good for freight. It took calling another recruiter at C&M and him explaining that as much as he'd like for us to come drive there honestly the miles and what we were making wouldn't be much different. So we stuck it out. The one thing we loved most about Try Hours was the family feel you got when you walked in the office and dispatch. We started being proactive when it came to loads and moving to better locations when we were empty. We started talking to other driver's like The Carfty Truckers who were a huge help in learning the industry. To this day we are close friends. When Ken decided to retire as fleet Manager I offered to take his place, I wanted to carry on that family atmosphere, grow the fleet and make improvements. To this day I try hard to make sure the trucks we have to offer are the best in the industry and comfortable. I try to implement helpful bonus programs that not only make things easier for you on the road but keep us competitive with other owners in this industry. I want the experience you guys have here to be the best it can be, I want each and everyone of you to be successful and do my best to give you all the information and tips I can. This is a great industry and amazing job, there are many times I miss being on the road with my wife traveling to new places and getting to do things most couples don't get to do. We always looked at this as a Paid Vacation, looking back at pictures and videos shows how much fun we had and the amazing places we got to see. I want for you all to have that same experience.
